FS: '98 2.8i - 80k miles - fsh - black - New MOT & Tax...

Post by gIzzE »

Looks like I have lost my garage, so deciding what to do here.

I have a 98 plate 2.8i manual, I have only just bought it and started doing it up to get it perfect, the seats have been redone and I shoudl get my new M-Sport steering wheel from Royals tomorrow, so interior sorted.

Have also fitted a nice subtle Pioneer head unit fitted, bluetooth unit which will also accept hardwired via a usb in the glovebox either ipod/iphone or android fitted, Focal speakers also fitted up front.
It matches the BMW amber and dot matrix display perfectly.

The car has been serviced pretty much on the dot every year at a mix of BMW dealers and Indis, the last service was at BMW last spring and the amber light has just come on again, so I will take it for a service service before it is sold.

It was MOT'd last month and had 6 months tax put on it.

The engine is very nice, sounds like a sewing machine when you lift the hood, it pulls very well and generally feels strong.

The body work is not the best, don't get me wrong when it is polished up it still looks great, but when you start to inspect it, the boot needs a spray, the two rear wings could both do with a spray, and a small patch under the drivers door handle.
I have been quoted £500 to have the bonnet, wings and doors sprayed. I only really got a quote as I thought I would need to do this to sell it, however.....

This car owes me £1680, I am offering it on here for that price, as it is now.
Someone who is happy to drive it around as it is, or even do the wings themselves and then get the bonnet done for £200 could be in a really nice 2.8 with 80k on it for under £2k.

If I get it sprayed I will then stick it up on autotrader for £3000.

But if someone wants to take over this project £1680 is what I am up to on this so far and that is what I would take.

Oh, MOT said brakes have plenty of life left and tyres are Michelin Pilot Primacy all round, 3 have around 4-5mm and one has around 3mm so that one would need replacing at some point, I think I may even have one in the same size from when I had our old C220cdi estate, I will have to look.

There is a genuine BMW wind deflector and tonnaeu cover with it as well, and this has the OBC fitted.

I might not be yet!!

Had a text tonight from the guy who owns the garage asking me to bell him tomorrow, so fingers crossed!!

The problem I have is back in 2008/9 they changed our on street parking to 30 min bays, and 'forgot' to sort out residents permits, and here we are some 5 odd years later still with no street parking, and no one has drives either. So as you can imagine, loosing a garage and a space outside it for a second car is a nightmare, bad enough moving the car around all day, and a nightmare when we go away.

Well fingers crossed for tomorrow then!

I understand exactly where you are at. We moved in to a new-build early last year, and just very recently the council has decided to put double yellows all along out street, without any driveways!

You can call me 'Mystic David' though, as two weeks before it was announced, I spoke with one of the neighbours around the corner and agreed to rent an off the street space!

Stay positive, these little things in life have a way of working themselves out (especially when other people profit!)

However, it seems I have my garage for at least 3 months more, maybe on a new long term lease, so I think for now I am going to remove this from sale and do a few more bits to it to make it feel like new, but if anyone is interested drop me a PM as always willing to discuss as I could loose the garage at any time.

Sorry guys, completely missed these replies.

Tom I sent you a PM did you get it?

Grayf0x, I think I am going to get the bonnet, rear wings and doors done, I think at that point it will look great.

Alan, I did it using the Furniture Clinic kit, I posted the info in the 'What have you done to your Z today?' thread.

HI Gizzie,

Just joined the forum after seeing this thread. Would car still be available for sale as I'd be very keen. Dont think I can PM currently due to just joining so if you could get back to me it would be hugely appreciated.

Have cash here so if all checked out I'd take it.

Mechless deck, but happy with that as it does bluetooth for calls and music, ipod and Android as well as usb.

Hi Guy
The seats look great if you don't mind me asking where did you get them done and
was it at a reasonable cost ?

I did them using the Furniture Clinic kit.

I bought the medium kit for around £55, took about 5-6 hours in total.

Very pleased with the results.

Really nice looking motor, when I was looking for one, I was never too sure about the black. Then went back for a second look after viewing many others. Loved it the second time around and bought it!
