ah ok.

I had the same problem and couldn't find anything.
Fortunately for me my mother worked at a caravan cover making company at the time, someone there replaced/press fitted a different shaped ring into the leather and gave me a clamp, it isn't perfect and is different to the others, but needs must.

I know I'm not helping the only thing I could suggest if no one has a spare is look into boating cover fasteners
Designed or not designed, that is the question.

Finding the right size might be difficult, but there are lots of other cars out there that have tonneaus or softtops that fit using the same Tenax fasteners. For example my Sprite used smaller ones for both the tonneau and the hood:

I have just bought two of these from a boat fastener company in Hamburg called Loxx I think. If you still need help let me know and I will fish out the details. I think they were about 25 euros for two but make sure you get the assembly tool as well. A little two pronged thing that helps you screw apart and back again.

Thanks for all the replies bought one from Amazon but didn't fit The ones from Germany seem to work out at £27 each when you add in postage. If anybody else needs one I could purchase a set of four from BMW and split, making them £12 50 each. will have to share tightening tool.

Are you still looking for the catch or have you ordered from BMW?

Mine were replaced after I bought the car 10 years ago and the tech kindly left two used ones in the tool tray.

Since I am unlikely to ever need one,pm me an address to post it to and it is all yours free gratis.

Send me a private message with an address that I can post it off to and will happily pop one in a jiffy bag and post it to you.
Maybe my post was a little unclear,I will hold onto just one of them as insurance against being stuck in the future myself!

OK,now have your address and will pack you a fastener in a jiffy bag and send it to you over the next couple of days.
As I said, probably not a bad plan to hang onto the other one myself, you are most welcome to the fastener, hope it gets you sorted.
