BMW Car Club - Your opinions please
BMW Car Club - Your opinions please
What does eveyone think to the 'letters' pages in the last 2 editions of the BMW car club magazine?

I struggled to see value in the Carclub membership. Especially for the family membership that I took out the first year.
I was contemplating not renewing my membership when the whole forum, thing blew up. That sealed it for me. Sure there was fault on both sides, but IMO the club were not really looking for a solution that kept the existing forum in place. When a club has their own interests ahead of the members then its time to go.
It a shame really as they could do so much good if they tried.

could not care less to be honest either
have not really followed the whole forum issue, logged on once ages ago and did not find it particularly interesting, usefull etc.
am not really a "club" person anyway, much prefer the individual character of e.g. this board, even though it is in an way "the un/official board" of the z register of the BMWCCGB.
have only renewed because of the discounts and the occasional interesting article in the magazine, but in terms of club life, I never really got/wanted to get anything out of it.
I am sure it serves a purpose for those show & shine enthousiast, personally am more of a drive-dine-drive enthousiasts.
Renewal is not due until May next year, and my guess is I will be renewing though but will stay away from any of the forums officially linked to the BMWCCGB or the spin-off that caused all the mayhem

Intregued, why do you ask?
Re: BMW Car Club - Your opinions please
Well I was asked to run the local BMW Car Club by Jeff Heywood & Howard Walker, who seem to be the two main protagonists in the current 'battle'.Giles wrote:Intrigued, why do you ask?
It seems Howard, a stalwart of the club, has been asked to leave (see bimmer-board.co.uk) the club!
I'm totally gobsmacked by it and an considering my position. I wondered if I was alone in being 'unhappy' with things in the club. Seems I'm not!

If you amble over to www.bavarian-board.co.uk (the old car club forum) you will see that you DEFINTELY aren't alone.

do you actually like driving at all or are cars to you just a manifestation of some sort of pathological mother complex ?
Spokey, I think there are a few who are too - 'emotional' about it all over there and I know the opinions on here are a little more considered (mostly ), so wanted to know what we all thought.spokey wrote:If you amble over to www.bavarian-board.co.uk (the old car club forum) you will see that you DEFINTELY aren't alone.
BTW, Mozilla doesn't crash when I log on there, even though IE6 and BT Yahoo explorers do (which is probably nothing to do with me also registering on the 'new' & very exclusive BMW Car Club forum).
