Cruise Yorkshire March 15th

Post by Deano1712 »

Anyone up for a meet Sat 15th March?

The plan is to meet M62 junction 33 Ferrybridge Services 9.30am for a 10am start. We will drive north towards the North York Moors. A taste of it here:
Image

End point will be at Boroughbridge late afternoon. This is on the A1 30 miles north of the start point.

There is petrol at the start point and the end point. If you want decent petrol V Power available about 5 miles south from the start point on the A1. Please ensure you have a full tank at the start since we are driving around 150 miles.

The lunch venue is limited to 50 people so there will be a limit on numbers attending if it gets that high.

Please observe the speed limits. Please observe Cruise Etiquette at all times.

To confirm your attendance please PM me with the following information:
- Your forum name
- Your real name
- Your passenger's name if any
- Your mobile telephone number
- Your contact e-mail address
- What car you will be bringing, its colour and registration

There will be an e mail sent nearer the time showing the route and lunch menu.

I fancy this one as long as it does not clash with anything major. Sat suits me fine. Bring on the better weather.

Must ask given all the issues on the board at the moment would it be a rebels ride out, a forum conformists cruise or just a bunch of folk enjoying a day out in nice car with like minded folk.

Not so sure about being a Christmas gooseberry, but if the views are good I could be up for it  .

Hi Gary you are more than welcome. Kerri is over from Guelph for a week and would be well impressed with a mini convoy. Im thinking Saturday 29th Dec at the mo.

Mark, for what it's worth, our first cruise was in the harsh winter of 99 and 4 of us turned up over near Halifax. The run was a bit odd as we went through the middle of 2 or 4 busy towns, which was not much fun at all. When we eventually got going, we stopped for lunch in the coldest dreariest pub known to man!

This one will be on some of Britains best roads, with what looks like a good bunch. We'll be in a 2.8, so wont be able to keep the M's in sight either  , so don't worry about that. Everyone should drive at their own pace and as long as people wait for the Z behind them to re-appear at each junction, we don't get split up either.

sounds good.. hopefully we'll be able to make it.

I ride a bike too and have been on tons of rideouts. We always ride for the person behind, waiting at junctions, etc. so sounds like a similar setup. Will be good to get out and about on some nice roads. I've been into Wales a few times and really enjoyed it. Hopefully it will be nice enough to get the roof down too. :drive

I've never been to Yorkshire so I'm very tempted :D

Plotted the route from London to Huddersfield on RAC Route Planner and it says 211 miles with a time of 4h 6 mins, does that sound realistic?

Yeh that's about right. Did the trip last month and it took 3 1/2hrs in light traffic so around 4 hrs would be right.

OK guys I have added you on.

I have updated the top post a bit. Can people please start sending me confirmations, as directed?

With 23 cars on the interested list this is proving quite popular!

We will probably have to go in 2 or more groups so if one or more of you would like to volunteer to lead a second group that would be great. We could use some sweepers too to make sure nobody gets lost off the back, especially in Paulas group

I will be doing a full recce one Saturday soon so will let you know incase anyone fancies a drive out with me. I drove the first bit of it today - great fun - tempered only by a cracked rear screen as I tried to drop the hood in the cold :|
