I'm interested, but I'm not yet sure when Pickle's birthday party will be -- I will try to arrange it so that I can see some more of Yorkshire!

do you actually like driving at all or are cars to you just a manifestation of some sort of pathological mother complex ?

Hey big cheesy its open to anyone on here Z's, beemers (Gary!), rebels, conformists, friends etc.big cheesy wrote:Must ask given all the issues on the board at the moment would it be a rebels ride out, a forum conformists cruise or just a bunch of folk enjoying a day out in nice car with like minded folk.
Hi Gary you are more than welcome. Kerri is over from Guelph for a week and would be well impressed with a mini convoy. Im thinking Saturday 29th Dec at the mo.pingu wrote:Not so sure about being a Christmas gooseberry, but if the views are good I could be up for it .

Mark, for what it's worth, our first cruise was in the harsh winter of 99 and 4 of us turned up over near Halifax. The run was a bit odd as we went through the middle of 2 or 4 busy towns, which was not much fun at all. When we eventually got going, we stopped for lunch in the coldest dreariest pub known to man!beemer wrote:I'd like to come along too if that's ok.. The Saturday would be good with me as it stands. Fingers crossed nothing else crops up
This one will be on some of Britains best roads, with what looks like a good bunch. We'll be in a 2.8, so wont be able to keep the M's in sight either , so don't worry about that. Everyone should drive at their own pace and as long as people wait for the Z behind them to re-appear at each junction, we don't get split up either.

sounds good.. hopefully we'll be able to make it.
I ride a bike too and have been on tons of rideouts. We always ride for the person behind, waiting at junctions, etc. so sounds like a similar setup. Will be good to get out and about on some nice roads. I've been into Wales a few times and really enjoyed it. Hopefully it will be nice enough to get the roof down too.

Ooooooooh you tell some porkies Stu............
God knows what you'd do in an M, we'd all have to have a one day head start

I am hoping my first cruise as organiser goes a bit better than that Stu! I think you missed a "S" out in the second paragraph. Perhaps you can be rear gunner, that way you wont hold anyone upStu wrote:Mark, for what it's worth, our first cruise was in the harsh winter of 99 and 4 of us turned up over near Halifax. I've never been to Yorkshire so I'm very tempted
Plotted the route from London to Huddersfield on RAC Route Planner and it says 211 miles with a time of 4h 6 mins, does that sound realistic?

OK guys I have added you on.
I have updated the top post a bit. Can people please start sending me confirmations, as directed?
With 23 cars on the interested list this is proving quite popular!
We will probably have to go in 2 or more groups so if one or more of you would like to volunteer to lead a second group that would be great. We could use some sweepers too to make sure nobody gets lost off the back, especially in Paulas group
I will be doing a full recce one Saturday soon so will let you know incase anyone fancies a drive out with me. I drove the first bit of it today - great fun - tempered only by a cracked rear screen as I tried to drop the hood in the cold
