Gaydon Gathering - South East group?

Post by RobBruce »

Just wondered if those in the south east fancied meeting up somewhere suitable before the Gaydon meet, so we could travel up in convoy?

Would be good to meet some of the 'locals' first, and also decrease the chance of us getting lost or being late.

South Mimms (M25 J23) seems an obvious place, but open to suggestions.

Any takers?

We've already booked us a room at my cousin's house (just a few miles from Gaydon) for the Saturday night, which kinda screws us up for a convoy and/or evening social.

:(

But at least I've got a small chance of getting to the meet almost on time....

There was talk of a cruise on the Saturday afternoon but I've not heard recently. Did that get any further?

Rob,
I was thinking of going through the City to the A40/M40 but if there is enough interest i could just as well go M11/M25 and meet up with you

What time would we meet? gonna have to be early.

My prefered route to Gaydon is M25 then M40 then on to Gaydon. So would not be able to meet up at South Mimms.

I'd have thought that if you chose Bishops Stortford services, you might have half a chance of getting that useless bugger Giles into the convoy.

Funnily enough that suits me

Seriously we'll be travelling up with Stu and Silv and it makes sense for us to join the M11 at J8...

South Mimms was only a suggestion!

The services at M11 J8 suits me just fine (or Giles' house  ).

If that's easier for most then that'll do. Time anyone?

Are there any services at the London end of the M40 where we could meet on Sunday morning?

I dont know where you are Troy but I would normally stop at either Hickstead services or Pease Pottage on the A23, for refuel, as its optimax. Maybe we could meet up at one of those.
I will pm you my mobile number.

Normally no, but as its you - yes

Seriously, its only a suggestion. Whatever suits most people, or have a couple of meet points.

The M11 J8 services seems good for those East Anglia way, but we can always catch up on the M25 too.

Who fancies what??

It has been suggested 1hr 15mins (traffic permitting) to Gaydon from the start of the M40, so perhaps 8.00am at South Mimms to allow for meet & greet,

thoughts?

Total and absolute lack of dedication, the lot of you.

You should drive up the night before and take a tent.

Be aware there are roadworks on the M40 both North and south, silly speed limit and the scamera's are live (seen them flash tonight-not me )

Any rethink on time at South Mimms?

Right, decision time.........

Anyone who wants to meet at M11 J8 services, be there to leave at 07.30am. We'll then toodle down and round and get to South Mimms (M25 J23) for shortly before 08.30am.

That should be plenty of time to get to all places concerned.

Can we have a list of those meeting at M11 and M25 please?
