wandering around eBay and found this

Seems a lot for a car that has been in a prang.

£13-14k?

Way too expensive for a cat D private sale.

Personally it would be £12k tops as you can pick these up for £16k now albeit higher mileage (as they were not sat in a garage being repaired  )

Find out what it was Cat D for.

What was 60% of book value 2 years ago? I would guess £13,000, which would indicate a lot of damage, but it's upto the current owner to convince you that it's been properly repaired. If he won't tell you why it was Cat D (with evidence) walk away.

If it was repaired by BMW, the dealer will have details of the repair.

IMHO, it's worth between £10k and £12k.

Cat D's being the lightest of recorded damages should be valued around 25% less.
Depending on the type of car it can vary being less or more.
Most people (private sellers and dealers) should have fully documented records of the damage caused and how it was repaired and the parts involved.
Labour costs play a big part too as we know.

Way over priced - think of trying to sell it on. Most people wouldnt look at a car like this.
Sapphire black/Imola red and black interior/ red roof/ S54 - the only RHD one made.
