Re: Jonttt Imola II Red S54 Z3m Roadster Journal
Sorry to see you go. You have been a real asset to the site.
Would be very interested to see, when you get used to it, how the GTS compares to the M on ordinary roads. Not only in the areas of performance but also in other drivers attitudes to a new Porsche.

In terms of performance, in a straight line there would not be much in it unless I used the porsches launch control but on the twisties A to B there would be a pretty wide margin I'm afraid. The Boxster has come a lot further in 20 years than BMW has developed the Z cars BMW rather gave up the Z4 being a true sports car when they stopped developing an ///M version.Tilly wrote:Sorry to see you go. With regard to drivers attitudes I find Porsches to be the most accepted super cars, you only have to live with a Ferrari for a few months to realise that. The main attitudes you get with porsches are from other porsche drivers lol

Wow I'm suprised you sold it but when your offerred too good a price to turn down but I bet it caused you a couple of uneasy nights to part with it though. Enjoy your new toy though.

Sorry to hear you have sold it Jon. I guess we wont be seeing the car on the forum again?
Z3M with a few mods...and a little bit more power
Re: Jonttt Imola II Red S54 Z3m Roadster Journal
Not with the current owner, he is the last person you would see on an internet forum.
I have a small glimmer that one day it may end up back with me, he has promised me first refusal should he sell....... be he would have to take a hit on the price lol
Truth be told I had it all prepped ready for him to take away but he has asked if I'll keep it stored for him. I think he really just likes the idea of owning it and he may never even actually look at it, he lives in a different world. I have it in my head that its not mine anymore despite the fact its still in one of my parking spaces.

Hi Jonttt,
You wont know me but I sure know you... when I joined back in 2011 with my newly purchased Z3M, I definitely tuned in to your posts, a major contributor to this site. I read with keen interest your insights and tech knowledge... well done and thanks for all those great contributions, the site will not be the same.
I see you have expanded your p-car range now and upgraded (sorry Z people ) your Zed to a boxster. I have recently also bought a p-car (a backdated 911) and love it. And like you, the M now, sad to say has limited days I'm afraid as much as I love its cute little curvy body and great sound....and will be updated to a boxster at some point in the future when funds and ducks align. I just gotta have a convertible in my life, love the roofless driving feel.
Just following in the footsteps....

Wow Jonttt - a big surprise but as you say when an offer is too good to refuse everything has a price. I'm sure the Boxster will prove an worthy 'replacement' in the roadster stakes.
Cheers, Dave

Re: Jonttt Imola II Red S54 Z3m Roadster Journal
The car was sold by the collector I sold it to as part of a large batch of cars he had a clear out on......
I understand from him (I met up with him recently) that it sold at auction for >£30k. Quite a bit less than he paid me but still top of the market I think. The car was unique and so the price as they say is what someone is prepared to pay. He did well overall out of the auction I believe which included <5,000 miles Lotus Carlton and NSX as part of his offload.
I have no idea where the car has ended up but if by chance the current or future owner ever sees this thread drop me a PM on here. I am on very infrequently these days but I would pick it up eventually
Ps I still have the Porsche’s, the 981 Boxster GTS has turned into a keeper as well, the new ones are simply not as much fun to drive now they have all gone forced induction ....

Re: Jonttt Imola II Red S54 Z3m Roadster Journal
Another 2 years have past ....where does the time go.
Has my old S54 ever turned up on the forum ?
My garage has changed again since last being on here, I still have the 993 4S but the 981 boxster was replaced by an older (and manual !) 987-2 black edition. For every day driving I have gone fully electric after x3 PHEVS...... I know I know, its an appliance
I'm in the middle of a garage refurb and keep on finding Z3m parts, I'll be putting them up for sale on eBay but will give a heads up on here and Z3mcoupe.com beforehand .........(mods please let me know if not allowed).

Hi Jon
I haven’t been on here for some time, sad to see you parted with your lovely car.
I’ve still got mine,
I keep thinking shall I sell, with only 35k on it, Maybe one day with a good offer.
Take care Jon

Have you had any probs with the Taycan. A friend has just got rid of theirs. Too many problems.
Re: Jonttt Imola II Red S54 Z3m Roadster Journal
Nope, none at all, only had it 2 months though but done plenty of mileage in it. I think lots of problems where software related resolved by a major update in 2022. The physical problems are heater matrix failure (no engine heat to provide heating so reliant on a heat matrix) which affected a lot of cars, so much so they had to slow production of new cars to divert parts to warranty repairs. There was a problem with 12v batteries, no alternator to recharge and I think a software update to resolve. Other than that the normal ad hoc problems and Friday cars that you normally get. I think the major problem has been parts supply meaning cars off road for long periods to get fixed, the fixes themselves are easy. I’m hoping as the car has been in production for >2 years now most of the new model teething problems have been resolved.
I know some who have just had bad cars and got fed up with them but that can happen to any model, some EV’s where just not for them and wanted an excuse out. The Taycan is by far the best quality EV out there, the combination of luxury, ride quality and sheer performance is wizardry. It is the only EV that tempted me after trying most over the past few years, no regrets so far, in fact much better than I expected.

thought I'd pop by here for a catch up....
Charlotte has just hit 60k now during a day trip to Dusseldorf to collect a steering wheel adapter for a Raid wheel - only taken me 12 years!!!
She's not changed much in my 17 years of ownership apart from the rear quarter panel graze picked up last year in a sleepy Italian village carpark. That will be done along with a few other bits and pieces of bodywork in a few week's time.
Charlotte is now friends with Sharky her production line next-door-but-one neighbour who is looking very smart after a full bare metal respray. It really is a small world.
