What about this one?

Big money and slightly modified, but low mileage and could be reverted back to standard.

..or this one, which in my humble, uneducated opinion, looks the better car.

Going to view it would also give you the opportunity to earn some brownie points with your partner by telling her/him that you are whisking her/him off for a weekend in Holland.

If we should ever meet up, I shall expect you to buy me a pint as a finder's fee.

Here's another to ponder upon, also just over the water.

The mucked-about blue one has been for sale on-and-off at that over-inflated price for years.

The two in Holland both have around 80,000 miles on the clock which is leggy for a Z1, so you'd need to inspect carefully.

If you serious about importing one, look on here: http://www.mobile.de/?lang=en

Germany and Italy have the biggest stocks, being the largest markets for the cars originally.

http://automarkt.auto-motor-und-sport.d ... zeugliste/ I noticed the one in Nordhorn advertised in the paper magazine I bought in Germany a couple of weeks ago. Mileage and condition look reasonable.
There's also a red one with a reproduction of the AR Penck art car design in Remscheid. Lowish mileage and reasonable price, ossibly because of the paint job, though the ad states that it could be removed!

If it comes to it, I don't think that the importing is difficult at all. I did look at this many years ago when looking either for the Z1 or the M3 (too much water has passed to remember which it was!).

You drive the car home and can drive on the foreign plates for (I think) 6 months, in which time you need to have got an MOT and registered the car here in the UK. Since this was a type-approved model you would get an F-G-H-J plate according to the original year of registration and off you go - you need to modify the headlights to dip to the left for the MOT and that is about it I think.

Don't quote me on any of this as it was a long time ago, but not too tricky and no taxes to pay other than the registration fee.

I'm sure when I looked at buying a Z8 in the US and importing it the situation was far worse, as they were ten less than 10 years old. As I recall, you could buy a sub-10,000 mile car for around £40,000 equivalent then and ship it here for around £2,000. However, you then had to pay UK car tax and VAT based not on the price you paid for it, but the 'going rate' here in the UK. To me, this seemed extortion. However, even with all of the money that would have entailed, the price of them today would seem to support the idea :( I just couldn't have that much money tied up in one car...........
Best regards,

Sam Lever.

The Silverstone car was on reasonably new Continental tyres and the the interior was not as good as the advertised car.
