Flasher Unit

My indicators have packed up suddenly and after checking the fuses I thought I would change the flasher unit as I had a spare.
I believed the flasher unit was under the steering column but having opened it up it is no where to be seen!
Am I correct that this is where it should be?

No it is not under the steering column, but inside it.

You need to take the steering wheel off and the two covers. there is one flasher unit, it sit just above the key lock on the right hand side of the steering column.
