Bibury and cyclists ...

Post by TJS »

Stopped for lunch at the Swan Hotel in Bibury on Friday and parked the Z1 on the roadside.

I was immediately accosted by a group of very angry Hi Viz wearing electric bike cyclists who accused me of driving into a similar cycling group and damaging one the bikes and what was I going to do about it !!

My wife tells me I am not very tolerant in such situations, and she is right.

I politely advised the two ring leaders I had no idea what they were talking about but they insisted a black Z1 (me) had deliberately ploughed into them several weeks earlier. After telling them to Foxtrot Oscar they reached for their phone cameras and said they will be taking the matter further.

If I knew they intended to take photographs of myself and the car I would have shaved, brushed my best wig and cleaned the Z1.

I suspect the Z1 doors were the giveaway.

If only I had bought a red one all those years ago !

Tony
Blimey! Well done you for averting what could have been a nasty incident.
Most probably was a black Z3 or Z4. Sounds like these people wouldn’t know their ar*e from their elbow.

Hi Tony,

I'm glad to hear that you have the same stupid idiots on bicycles in the uk as we have in Germany. :D :D :D

...fortunately, sales of bicycles (as well as electric cars) are currently collapsing in germany. That gives us at least a little hope... ;-)

Well, I live in that area and my Z1 is black but I certainly haven't driven into, or indeed near to any cyclists. In fact, the last few times I've been to the Classic Motor Hub, the rich boys' toy shop up the hill from the Swan on the former RAF Bibury site, I've travelled there on my e-bike! To be fair, drivers and cyclists seem to coexist well in the area, unlike the haughty horse women who are oblivious to all other road users.
