Hi, I've been following the advice given on this group to fix a non-working door button (it worked to open the door but not to close it.) By altering the length of the connecting linkage rod (in the panel behind the door button) I've been successful in the button now working both to open and close. However, during the altering and trying out process the window started to function differently; sometimes it would close and then automatically open a little way; other times it wouldn't open or close at all (and the window button inside the car didn't work.) I've checked fuses and all good so I'm presuming this is do to with my alteration to get the button working. Before I go back into the fiddly work altering the linkage rod could any of you with experience of this advise me whether it's likely I've gone too far or not far enough....or is it something totally unrelated.
By the way, as I was passing the car in the garage, I just thought I'd try the door and 'hey presto' the door and window worked perfectly....I tried it again to prove it wasn't a fluke and unfortunately it went back to the window not moving at all, even though the door works fine...grrrr!
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Window issue
If its the former and you've gone too far, maybe try backing out, reverse what you did incrementally and check the window at each step.
Re: Window issue
Thanks Jet. For clarity, this was the rod I was adjusting (thanks to Hankt for the pic from a previous post)
I did retrace my steps and took a turn off the rod (green arrow) and try it; another turn, try it, etc. Problem is, on three turns it went back to the door not working and throughout the process, nothing from the window (nor from the internal window switch.) So i took it back one turn and the door now works again but still no window.
I tried to take the seat out (to get to the other access points) but unfortunately 2 of the 6 bolts don't want to move and a previous owner has rounded off the bolts so I'm at a bit of a loss, other than attempting to cut and drill them out....if I can even get something in there to cut through the bolts?!
You know when you feel you're taking one step forward and two steps back?!

Re: Window issue
Try a reset, from memory pull fuses 25/26, open/close door, reinsert, test again. Failing that swap door control units inside battery compartment......failing that, check motor?

Re: Window issue
Glad my photos helped you fix the door button!
I've also had the same problem you describe with my pax door. What I found it to be (but don't have a permanent fix yet) is that the locking bar/deadbolt that moves into place when closing the door does not get fully extended, so the car "thinks" the door is open, and prohibits the window from operating. (I'm referring to the locking bar that makes that loud "thunk" when opening the doors). If you notice the windows not working, I'd bet you also do not get the loud "thunk" when opening, because it was never fully engaged.
To fix this, I open the door then close it, but while it is closing, I grab the little "handle" molded into the door and pull up on it with moderate force while the door is closing in order to get the locking bar to fully extend and "lock" the door closed. Then the window works normally.
Good luck!
