Which Wiper Blades?

Post by Warrior »

Does anybody have any reason for or against changing the traditional framed wiper blades on a Z3 for the single blade frameless Bosch Aero's or similar?

I've had Bosch Aero wiper blades (front & rear screens) on my Z3 MC since 2013, I found them to be a bit more efficient than the OEM type of wiper blades. Also in my opinion they look better aswell.

Thanks. I'm hoping they won't collect quite as many leaves as well

I've just fitted a pair of Bosch AR20 U Aerotwins as recommended when entering car Reg number into the Bosch part finder.

The drivers side one is fine and clears the windscreen well along the whole length. The passenger side however, does not touch the screen for about 4-5cms towards the outer edge?

Any suggestions?

I'll check my car tomorrow and see what size blades I've got fitted. Also check to see if I have the original packaging still in the garage. I'm sure my wiper blade on the passenger side doesn't have that length of non contact.

Warrior.
Apologies for late reply, checked my car out today. It has 20" blades that have a slight area in parked position on passenger side which has a about 35mm of non contact, however the swept pattern is more less full as soon as it starts to sweep.
I haven't got the original packaging so cannot confirm the Bosch part number. However I looked on eBay and the Bosch AR20 U Aerotwins which are down as the correct fitting for the Z3 are not suitable for the Z3 M Coupe. I'll keep looking as I will need to replace my wiper blades at some point in the future.

Many thanks Pete..

Sounds the same as mine. They clear the screen extremely well and may even adapt themselves after a bit of sun and use so will hang in there. :P

I couldn't find the same wiper blades supplier that I bought mine from on eBay, the AR20U (£20 a pair) with free postage I did find were NOT suitable for my car
Looked at Halfords, they say that AP20U (£19 each) will not fit my car and they say that I should fit AR19U (£18 each).
Confusingly Euro Car Parts when I put my car reg in came up with AP20U (£18.99 each) and the retro fit AR20U (£16.45 each).
However I came across a company - Wiper Blades (https://www.wiperblades.co.uk) who came up with a twin pack of AP20U (£22.24 inc VAT) with free delivery in 3 to 4 days if you buy at least 2 wiper blades.
Just some food for thought!!

On Bosch's own parts finder they say AR20 U's: https://www.boschwiperblades.com/offers

Eurocarparts are always putting out discount codes but you have to search for them sometimes.

AR20U's at £16.49 can be brought down by 40% to £9.73 with the right code. I downloaded a free code finder called POUCH which sits unobtrusively at the top of your computer screen just to the right of the address bar. When you log into a particular shopping site it will show how many codes are available. Eurocarparts currently have 20, not always on things you want but Batteries always feature strongly with *41% off.

*I'm always mindful that this is discount off of what might be an inflated or full retail price and other suppliers and online shops will normally show final prices, but so far they have worked out cheaper and more convenient for me to collect as only 5 mins up the road.
