Squeaky Suspension

Post by benelvin »

I've got a squeak noise coming from my right rear suspension when I go over bumps - starting to bug me when I've got the roof down

I'm guessing it's either the shocks or one of the many bushings that lives back there - would I be ok randomly spraying silicone lubricant on everything I can see until it goes away? Will I be able to get to anything without taking the wheel off?

Or does anyone have any better suggestions?

If it were the springs, it should be just a visual check. If the shocks are gone, you'd have a very bouncy ride, along with evidence of leaking fluids at the bottom of the shock absorber. Squeaks have been attributed to issues with the rear brakes, and rattles/clunks with either the top shock mounts or fuel tank straps.

A couple of threads:

hehe :)

I had the exact same problem on the rear suspension , every time i went over a bump it would make a squeek sound

Turned out the right rear spring had broken/fractured . I had it replaced and now it does not do it .

Sounds like its the same problem as yours !

Had the same problem over speed bumps.
Problem was mostly dead rear shocks (already had new mounts a few months ago) - but there is still something else remaining. I assume spring related. We’ll see.
