Rear window replacement

Post by Buzz »

Hi all,

It's been a while since I've posted, but I thought this was worth it. During the cold weather I managed to crack my rear window (don't ask, I wasn't thinking!)

Just to let you know that I found a chap in Southend, Essex that replaces them for £150 - he did an excellent job - I'll post pics in the next few days. He actually used the existing zip and stitched the window in and zipped it back in rather than stitching into the hood....

V impressed! he has his own retrimming workshop....

The chap's no is: 07905 434620

Unfortunately I can't remember the chap's name though, apologies!

Pics to follow when i get a chance,

cheers,

Buzz

But....... DIY is not for all and £150 is not a bad price.

Is it as good a fit as the original one ?

I would also check for water ingress as the original window is not just a zipper (this would not be waterproof) but also has a silicon sealent strip in place. Has this been replaced. The last thing you want is water slowly seeping through the zip and it would not be obvious but you would end up with a damp parcel shelf area etc......(and damp smelling interior).

Yip, I looked into doing it myself and to be honest for the price, i thought why the effort! - it is silicon sealed and no condensation etc so happy days!

Sounds like he's done the job right :thumb:

Could you put up piccies as there are plenty who do not want to do the DIY but are worried about fit etc of a non OEM one.

A happy non OEM customer with pics is worth knowing about
