rubber edge maintainence

Post by betaruce »

how do you usually maintain your car's rubber edges like those around the soft top and windows?

any special agents or products for cleaning?

for a cheap maintenance, try vaseline, it helps keep door seals soft.
I have also used a product called Gleitlach ( i think that's how it's spelt!)
it comes in a bottle with a felt tipped applicator.
hope this helps!

i have also heard of vaseline
so i just apply a thin layer around all the rubber edges and let it "absorb" by itself?

Use the Gummipflege linked above :thumb:
Avoid vaseline - it rots the rubber eventually :nono

Thanks for the link above must get some of the Gummi stuff :)

I've been using Autoglyms Vinyl and rubber care although I do use it weekly during the summer so rubbers tend not to dry out. As said Vaseline contains Petroleum Distilate and will damage the rubbers eventually :(

I heard that you shouldn't use vaseline as it contains pertoleum which can corrode rubber. I've used gummi-plefge on my seals and it makes them like new! :D

Autoglym rubber care and /or silicone spray.
