or had thoughts about doing it? as im sure by the end of the year fuel will be pushing 160+ per liter at this rate....

I dont have a problem with lpg,had my daily drive converted some 4yrs ago and to be quite honest the performace, fuel consumption remained the same ,unless you were told you would think it was running on petrol.
The biggest problem would be mounting the extra tank,as we all know Zeds are a little short on space in the boot, the other alternative loose the spare wheel, and see what size tank could be fitted. At the time mine cost me £1300,which i got back on fuel saving,On the six cylinder i would think around £2000 for a decent installation.
Hmmm got me thinking now,and thats dangerous

A Dutch forum member had it done a couple of years ago on his 2.8 coupe at a cost of Euro 2,500.00.
He said that he has a round tank, 60cm across and 25cm high, in the boot. (no photos I am afraid)
He did not mention how much lpg he could fill up, but in his last post on the subject he said that he had driven 380km on 40lt of gas, which was similar to his petrol usage but obviously a lot cheaper.
He also said that he had not noticed a difference in performance using lpg, but he did change his spark plugs more often than before.

PS, these people in the UK have done it.

I had been thinking about it as well after my dad converted our Corolla to LPG (I must say it's rather brilliant as a workhorse and daily driver now that it's so cheap to run).
I took the car to a specialist and they had a tank that would fit the diameter of the spare well, but the tank would be sitting too low for comfort and he was worried about it getting scraped over bumps etc. Anyway he said the only realistic solution was a cylindrical tank in the boot, which would take up at least half the space, so I said no and bought a scooter instead for my daily commute to work lol
I'll be keeping the Zed for special occasions only I think. And to be honest I'd hate the engine bay after an LPG install, it would just look molested

Re: Lpg Z3??
I have a Z3 2.8 which I bought already converted for just £2000! It runs like a dream and costs between 10p and 12p per mile depending on how much fun I’m having.
LPG actually has a higher Octane rating than fuel so can be tuned to optimise a sporty engine.
My tank is underneath the car and the only place I’ve ever scraped it is getting in and out of my driveway because it’s very steep!
LPG burns slightly hotter than petrol but it’ss Massively cleaner so a heavily coked valve will actually clean up after a few thousand miles on LPG.
I get about 250 miles on a tank and I’ve only driven LPG cars for the last 10 years!

Re: Lpg Z3??
LPG used to be cheap in New Zealand, but alas no longer. I worked for a bus co. who converted the whole fleet of Bedfords to run solely on LPG. If you wished you could do the same and remove the petrol tank.
The politicians got into the act and taxed it to buggery so it's no longer a viable option here.
Tony.
