Clutch Master Cylinder

Post by Zedbedee »

I expect this has been posted before so bear with me!
My clutch bite point has been getting lower over an extended period of time and I am now trying to get it sorted. I'm pretty much convinced that it's the clutch hydraulics which are the problem and after inspection and bleeding the system I now suspect the clutch master cylinder. When you press the clutch nothing much happens in the fluid reservoir but when you release the pedal you can plainly see fluid pumping back in. I would have thought that the fluid displaced by the master cylinder into the slave cylinder would just come back when the pedal is released with no real fluid movement in the reservoir. What I'm seeing could be fluid getting behind the piston and pumping back to the reservoir. Anyone else had this problem? Is this normal? I would like a second opinion before I shell out on a new master cylinder having just bought a pair of front suspension struts. Looks like I will be spending time in the man cave (garage) shortly.
