POLY BUSHES for lower wishbone? Advice please

Post by alec.m »

Just been for two new tyres and tracking only to be told the wishbone bushes are knackered so would be a waste of money tracking it. Had these done 2 years and 15000 miles ago! I`m looking at poly bushes now and it seems Powerflex do two grades, black and purple. Purple they say are for road cars. Any thoughts recommendations urgently needed and appreciated. Thanks

Red ones should be more soft and comfortable for normal road use.

Black ones should be more stiff - more for track use.

Sounds good. I`ve been on larkspeed website and they only list black and purple. I`ll look for red ones. Thanks deni2s.

As said above, I would avoid the black ones as they are rock hard for non-road use suspension set ups. Perhaps the others were damaged during fitting? :shrug

I believe you can also fit the M wishbone bushes from the dealer, they are still rubber but don't have the holes like the standard fit ones...

I changed the lower wishbones (ball joints were shot) and also fitted the purple powerflex bushes in November last year. After a laser wheel alignment the car was spot on. I would have no hesitation in recommending them, makes everything feel tight and precise.

Thanks all. Caledonian, I think I`ll go with the purple ones based on your experience. Nice to hear a personal recommendation, thanks for posting.

Have had purple powerflex bushes fitted, laser tracking and new Falken 914s all round. What a difference, tram-lining gone, feels very precise with good feedback and love the tyres. Had 912s on before and the 914s in my opinion are better and look like they will be great in the wet too.

Hi there.
I'm looking at buying powerflex bushes. Where did you buy yours?
I was on the powerflex website and expected to buy directly on the site... but apparently it is not possible!

Hi Pierrick,
These guys, delivered within two days

I have had time to evaluate and for me they are such an improvement on standard OEM bushes.

Thanks for the link. But why is it so expensive?

when you have a look on their web site the price is nearly half that!

I think the ones you looked at are priced singly and the prices in the powerflexshop are for pairs!

Also look at superpro they are spfter than powerflex but I can't vouch for them as I haven't used the car yet. I've used powerflex on the front and did improve the feel of the front end!

Rafolian is correct. I paid £41.70 for a pair, post free, and the Powerflex website costs them singly. OEM ARE £15 each I seem to recall so they aren`t that much dearer.
