Hardtops

Post by lightning »

It looks like there is a hardtop with the Z3 l am buying.

What are these worth second hand? As l will never use it, and the money could be spent on the car.

I'd say about £50.

I'll give you £40 for a stress-free transaction :cheers

..

There are many factors to consider with regards to cost of a hardtop:

Condition
Colour (Rarity)
Whether it comes with the fitting kit or not
Whether it comes with the heated windscreen connectors and button.

I'd say a good condition hardtop is worth around £600, and a genuine fitting kit will sell on eBay for £250.

Now... Do we have a deal at £40? :dunce:

Thanks.

I assume it has the fitting kit, as it is currently on the car.
The colour is dark blue.

Best bet is to wait until winter when the price of them rise.

If selling now, between £400 and £600 with the fitting kit.

I'd take £600 including fitting kit etc.

It will pay for the insurance, tax etc.

The hardtop looks perfect, it's a dark blue colour. I think it is Topaz Blue.

If anybody wants it they can come and help me remove it, then take it.

You will probably want to include the HRW switch with the sale along with the two small screws that attach it to the windscreen.

Ask the seller if they have a storage bag and stand as these can increase the sale price.

Sold a red one back in March via eBay for £520, without the fitting kit.
Probably 'worst' time of year to sell - thought it was a good price?

£500 would be fine.

My hardtop is in perfect condition, unmarked.

So the locking handles and pins on the hardtop, are they part of the fitting kit, or the hardtop?

As l just had a discussion with a guy who said there are five part to the fitting kit.
I am still confused!

There will be a photo of the fitting kit on here somewhere, but no, the handles and pins and their covers are part of the hardtop.

The fitting kit consists of 2 brackets, 2 trim pieces (to cover the brackets), 2 swivelling caps (to cover the holes in the trim/brackets when the hardtop is not on the car), 4 bolts for the brackets, a short section of wiring loom (which is usually already attached to the left-hand bracket), a heated rear windscreen switch (two versions - one pre-facelift, one facelift) and 2 grub screws for securing the front of the roof to the windscreen frame.

You do not need the trim pieces to fit the hardtop, but they improve the look of the thing when the hardtop is removed.

Cheers R.
