What exactly does S54 mean?

Post by Warrior »

I've seen the term S54 in relation to M Class cars but on searching for a part number was surprised to see my 3.0i after narrowing the list down from make, model, engine size, year to end up marked as an S54? :rtm:

Your 3.0 will be a M54 engine, the S54 engine as you allude too is in the ///M model, the S designation is a reflection that it had been built by BMW Motorsport production.

The M designation just means it was designed before 2001
