Rear window disaster!

Post by SHRS2000 »

Well it was such as nice day & with everyone watching the England game I decided to take the Z3 out for a run. As I dropped the hood the rear window wasn't lying flat at the halfway point so I pushed it down & it promptly split!

Can anyone recommend a quality replacement? Am I correct that the original has a green tint to it? Also, someone who can fit it in the North East of England?

Any help appreciated.

I got mine from art Munster. Germany. Assuming you have a zip in screen then order it directly from them or eBay Germany as its cheaper, mine was £85 delivered. Comes with clear instructions. Replaced mine in 20 minutes.

Fitting can be quite daunting as neither of the zipper parts has an end piece. Therefore, the window may not zip up properly should you not start on the right tooth. Do not force it. Being methodical and counting which tooth you start on will make this job much easier. As to how long it takes? As long as it takes you to get it right! Also, roll bars make it a little trickier, too.
Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine,

Thanks Boosh.

Gulp, does have roll bars & does sound tricky! Can you clarify about the starting position please? I've watched a video & they started on the bottom, in the middle.

Yep, start at the bottom. Make sure you position the replacement window inside in, unlike me on my first attempt! It's not exactly difficult, just be prepared to have to start over a few times. Count the teeth or make a mark at your starting point each time, to adjust it on your next attempt. Like many things, it is pretty foolproof, as long as you're patient.
Sure you'll be fine,

Spot on. Many thanks for the advice.

Better get one ordered & get on with it!

Did this last week,as a job its ok just a bit fiddly, but is mostly obvious, a few tips though...have the roof open and slightly ajar as it takes off the tension and makes it easier, also at the end i found it easier to stitch the ends to stop it coming apart, rather than placing the clamps...

It's little tips like this that makes these kind of jobs much easier.

Thanks you!

I have this to do too. I don’t suppose you have the German Ebay link Stupot?
