Hi folks,
My Z3 2.2 Sport has been on the for sale section & Car & Classic for about three weeks & I've had no interest whatsoever. I'm beginning to think I may have overpriced it so would welcome opinions here.
Since placing the original advert it's since passed the MOT, with no advisories, & tomorrow it is being fitted with a new genuine BMW rear screen (£££ ridiculous!) & service. So the car is ready to go with no issues, full MOT & service for £5,750 ovno. I don't usually talk my cars up but I'm confident that the first person to view & drive the car will buy it as, for the money, you won't find a better one.
Cheers, Steve
Have I overpriced my car?
Re: Have I overpriced my car?
Steve its a buyers market, whats the year and mileage on your car then compare it with others of the same for sale to see what others are pricing their cars at. Loads are out there its a big market at this time of the year. I think we are likely to overprice our cars when it comes to sell them.

There are few 2.2 Sports with similar mileage & history to compare it with but at the price I've pitched it at, for a private sale, looks very fair. There are two dealer cars on Autotrader with very similar mileage for 7.5K so at £5,750 it makes it look cheap! I don't think they would be any better than mine.
Re: Have I overpriced my car?
We don't know the mileage or just how good it is.
So all I can reflect on is for the money that's taking you into 3.0 territory so maybe that has an impact.

2001 Z3 2.2 Topaz Blue (Trudy) - Keeper rebuilt from a write-off
2002 Z3 2.2 Titan Silver (Cookies) - Keeper rebuilt having been bought with a seized engine
2002 Z3 3.0 Sapphire Black (Peanut) - Keeper awaiting rebuilding having been bought as an abandoned project
Plus Willy, Kodak & Maycee - All 2.2 Sport projects. Yes, 6 is a lot of Z3s
Always happy to try and help with spares
Re: Have I overpriced my car?
63,300 miles & two previous owners with excellent history. All that info. is in my original ad. As I say I don't generally talk my cars up but unless it's something very low mileage I'd say it's as good as you'll find. I've got another car up for sale as well & whatever sells first the other will go back in the garage. I'm just a bit surprised how slow the market is?
Re: Have I overpriced my car?
Brand new, genuine BMW, rear screen fitted & service by German car specialist today. MOT expires 03/05/2020.
I've reduced the price for the final time & it's now £5,500 ovno. The car wants for nothing & if it doesn't sell in the next couple of weeks I'm keeping it to enjoy the Summer with!

Re: Have I overpriced my car?
I did an eBay search for “2000 convertible” in cars for sale, lots of variety and prices, Z3’s do appear at much higher prices than most, possibly the reason for low interest compared to what else is available.
Some people are starting to see the Z3 as a classic model, hence the higher prices ?
Ultimately a car is valued at its selling price, not the asking price.
As an aside, I sold a 2002 3 series 330ci M Sport convertible in lovely condition for £2500 two years ago.
Z4’s are listed cheaper, ie 2003 2.5 71k miles £3000ono

The BMW Z3, or any BMW for that matter, is a quality product which usually means a higher price. I have noticed that there is some crossover in terms of prices of Z3's & Z4's but I'm guessing anyone looking for a Z3 is specifically after one & not just 'any' convertible.
I completely agree that a cars asking price is different to the selling price!
Re: Have I overpriced my car?
You can get a 3.0 Z4 for £5k.

Possibly over priced but they are getting rarer with low mileage.
