London's ULEZ

Post by motco »

I discover to my surprise that my 2.2i Sport (52 plate M54 engine) is acceptable to that nice Mr Khan's pollution storm troopers! It has been said that petrol cars built before 2005 are not going to pass muster. BMW are ahead of the game it seems! :D

On the negative side, my 2007 Jaguar X-Type is definitely unacceptable as it's a Euro 4 diesel. This mean that my visits to Wing Yip Chinese supermarket in Cricklewood must be made in my Z or my Good Lady's Nissan Leaf. However the latter has a range of 80 miles at best (on a warm summer's day with no aircon, and never exceeding 40mph) and Edgware Road is 36 miles from my home so I'm not likely to dare to try that!

I checked my 3.0 last night and perhaps even more surprisingly that also passes. But my brother's pre-facelift 1.9 doesn't.

2001 Z3 2.2 Topaz Blue (Trudy) - Keeper rebuilt from a write-off
2002 Z3 2.2 Titan Silver (Cookies) - Keeper rebuilt having been bought with a seized engine
2002 Z3 3.0 Sapphire Black (Peanut) - Keeper awaiting rebuilding having been bought as an abandoned project
Plus Willy, Kodak & Maycee - All 2.2 Sport projects. Yes, 6 is a lot of Z3s :)
Always happy to try and help with spares :)

I just checked my 3.0 but it does not pass. Doubt I'll be taking it to London any time soon.

My pre-facelift 1.9 would have to pay, but the Sprite is exempt!

My 1970 Midget (sold in 1976, sadly) would be exempt but my 1994 Westfield (on a 'Q' plate) cannot be found by their system. That being the case can I drive it around secure in the knowledge that it doesn't exist in TfL's world?
