1.9 misfire fix

Post by AndyT62 »

My 2000 1.9 developed a bad misfire at 2500 rpm and only when warm. Having owned the car for nearly two years and replaced most sensors, vacuum pipes, injector service, spark plugs and checked for intake leaks/splits and no fault lights or codes must admit I was getting a bit desperate.
Decided to do a trawl on the various forums and found a Z3 owner with the exact same symptoms as myself. The fix was a new coil.
I know this was a punt but a new coil later and eureka misfire fixed! The car now also pulls a lot better so I suspect the spark was also very weak. The first time I've ever taken a punt on a new part to fix an issue and it's paid off. Think I got lucky to be honest.

Glad you got it fixed. I remember helping a guy with an M44 and we swapped my coil pack onto his car to see if it cured his misfire and it did. Was that the one?

Cheers R.

Hi,
yes I believe it was!
Much obliged for who ever posted on the forum.
Also just replaced the passenger seat bushes which were badly worn.
Mrs T now a lot happier that the seat doesn't move forward and back under breaking.
