MTEC Calipers

Post by warhammer23 »

Good day.
My front brakes, including calipers on my Z3 2.8 need changing.

https://www.mtecbrakes.com/m-cal-100171 ... -left.html

Want to do it myself to save some £, so anybody used them in the past? The price is really good especially when compares to what a shop will charge me.

Thank you.

Have you thought of using Bigg Red to get your original calipers refurbed. I got my rear calipers done last year, details below. It took a couple of weeks from posting off to receiving them back again. I hand painted them blue myself before refitting.
I don't know how much yours will cost to see if cheaper than MTEC price.

Refurbish rear brake calipers - electroplated silver finish(P/P £14) Bigg Red 165.00 Postage 14.00 Total 179.00

All seals, pistons, bolts, etc replaced, came back like new. I'm going to get my fronts shortly and I have a 10% off voucher to use.

Thank you for the reply.

Yes, I had a look at the refurb route even on their website but it's 170 quid. Which is not bad in the long run but I need the car back on the road fast.

I just ordered the discs and pads and will get these mtec calipers to get me going. I see the company is doing brake stuff for sone time now so it should be fine I hope. Plus this way I get to keep my old ones and maybe do them in the future. Not like most shops that want the old ones back.

Just curious, does the Z3Ms have a 4 pot caliper?

To conclude.

Those Mtec calipers are very cool if anybody is looking for some, since they are a direct replacement to stock parts and you don't need to send the old ones in. They came with the guide pin grease as well.

As expected it was a pain to take apart the old brakes, everything was rusted shut. Like the disc bolt and the brake lines. Make sure you have the proper tools like the flare brake line wrench. I mean I never done this before so it was a nice learning experience.

Did it in the end and very happy. Bedding in nicely so far.
