Master brake cyclinder

Post by Z3andZ4 »

Can anyone help please?

2001 Z3 3 litre roadster needs a replacement or refurbed Master brake cyclinder.

Apparently none available from BMW Germany!

Many thanks indeed, otherwise car going to die 😭

The car should not die! You have a couple of alternatives:
You are right, the BMW part 34316754048 seems to be out of stock everywhere. The alternative is to buy some copy, most probalbly made in China.
But I would go for a renovation kit and use some brake shop for a renovation. It is simply made. If it is no rust in the cylinder you can change all the gaskets easy. If it is rust, a professional shop will renovate it definitely in less than an hour.
In the old days, you always made renovations of the cylinder instead of buying a new.
Or find a used one. Search on the part number! It must be used in a lot of cars.

I found one link that seems to have it: https://www.original-autoparts.com/prod ... a560f35e98

If you are unable to source a replacement it may be worth giving Past Parts a call. They can rebuild your existing unit with a new stainless steel sleeve and seals.

Thank you so much for replying.

I think I might have one from eBay, but we know what delights buying from there sometimes brings.

I shall treasure this contact and ensure when the eBay one goes in I retain the one it is replacing, which would potentially give me two bites of the cherry with past parts.

The one available in Germany apparently never replied and one I found in 🇺🇸 won’t ship to UK!,

Thank you.

Seems like BMW has the brake cylinder in France; https://www.online-pieces.fr/bmw-pieces ... inder.html

Thank you for all your advice.

My eBay purchase has been installed and everything is hunky dory.

I really appreciate the time and effort you took.
