Is my Z3 pre or post facelift? Rear trailing arms.

Post by ZEDDY28 »

Hi all

Have 1999 2.8 z3 and in need of some rear suspension parts. 2 new rear trailing arms. No way I’m paying £1700 each at dealer. EBay have some at about £400 each!!
Still a lot but better. It always specifies pre or post facelift and I have no clue. I defo have flared rear arches compared to some I’ve seen but still unsure. Any help appreciated!

The facelifts were from around 1999 onwards. The best way to tell is the rear light clusters.

The facelift lights are more of an "L" shape compared to the pre facelifts.

you can always use realoem to cross reference parts and part numbers. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/select
simply enter your last 7 digits of your Vin Number to pull up your car

Facelift rear end looks like this:

Note the "hips" and different shaped rear light clusters.

The facelift was 04/99. The build date is shown on a sticker on one of the front suspension strut towers under the bonnet.

I bought reconditioned trailing arms for mine off Ebay. Might even be the same seller, as they have a small business of zed parts.

Cheers R.
