I wondered why my handbrake only seemed to hold on one side. Now I know!

They look as if they have had a bit of heat in them Si.

Possibly. The other side looked more normal. They have probably been in there since the car was built in 2001 so not bad really.

Both sides all nice and new now £17 from ECP :)
