Tyre pressure icon flashing
Tyre pressure icon flashing
Took my M roadster (2002 S54) for a drive after 8 weeks and not far into my journey the tyre pressure icon came on and began flashing. I did all the checks before leaving so I pulled up and checked the tyres. They were all okay, no signs of one softer than the other and to the eye all seemed equal (near brand new tyres all round). I stopped at the first service station and put in the recommended air pressure in all four tyres (front 2.4bar rear 2.6bar). Turned ignition on and icon was flashing and drove off. I returned to my garage some 30 kilometres later with icon still flashing. I have searched the internet for clues but so far not successful. Any ideas much appreciated.
Re: Tyre pressure icon flashing
Problem solved. Easy fix. A bit more digging and found the solution in the Manual specific to my car. With ignition on position 2 dash icons light up including the flashing tyre icon. Icons then go off leaving the flashing tyre icon and the red engine icon. All you do then is push the button in (white picture of a tyre with a triangle inside) found beneath the headlight switch and the flashing icon disappears and is re-activated. When you click it back out a steady tyre pressure icon (yellow) appears on the dash (de-activated).
Re: Tyre pressure icon flashing
I upset the system on a friend's S54 when I evened the tyre pressures up before a run. It took me a while to figure out the reset procedure from the manual.
Pretty sure the system uses the wheel rotation sensors, so it is a change in pressure of one of the tyres that triggers it, rather than the actual pressures.
Glad you sorted it.
