I think your right Rob,I also remember reading an american post a few months back about a guy who have written some kind of "script" to pull out data from a BMW database to do just this type of thing.

Sounds like your the man :rtm: :D

That was a guy called Wildag. He has a screen scraper script that he used on BMWTIS.com. Using this he was able to get all the data we are interested in and more, but for for the NA roadsters and Coupes. I did ask about the UK info and gave him the VIN numbers, but he never replied.

Maybe someone else will ahve better luck, but it may be that BMWTIS only lists US VINs. BMWTIS is a chargeable service.

I am doing a newsletter item for the BMWCC magazine for January publication and will put out a search request to see if anyone responds with information.
Sapphire black/Imola red and black interior/ red roof/ S54 - the only RHD one made.

Phil, sounds like a great idea.

I've had some feedback from Spartanburg. I emailed the manufacturing facility first and they responded by saying they can't help but provided an american customer services number, it was obviously a "stock" don't bother us response :head:

I also emailed their public relations / media person but have had no response yet so will send a gentle reminder next week. I would rather get a sorry can't help than be ignored (how rude  )

If I get no joy next week I'll try BMW Germany.

Thanks Phil that sounds like a good idea. Now the wediing is over, I'll try and get some specific questions put together that will help fill the gaps.

Get all excited this morning as found another missing S54. This was a nice Titainum Silver with Estoril Blue interior.

Still got a way to go before we have a full house, there are 28 cars where there's no match between VIN and Reg and I have records of 17 cars I can't match to a VIN.

It does tend to be the early cars I have scant info on, so any help would bemuch appriciated.

Just read through this whole thread properly. Do you still require details on some cars and is mine one of them? RX02 UGE?

One other thing, does anyone know the full list of optional extras available on the cars? (just so I know what mine does & doesnt have)

Hi, this is my first post to Zroadsters. I have recently purchased a Z3M S54 LB64009 built March 2001 First Reg May 2001 in Titan Silver with matching hard top, Black Hood, Imola red/black interior. I picked it up in August and it has only covered 18500 miles. Its not run in!!! Has now done nearly 22K - Its awesome! If you want further spec/info I would be glad to provide

Oxford Green S54 on Pistonheads:

Some incorrect references to the S52 (USA engine) in the narrative:

General Spec:
3.2 litre Z3M roadster. 2001/51 plate. 56000 miles.

S54 model engine delivering 325 bhp
Number of owners: 2
Full service history documented in service book.

Presented in Oxford Green 2. This is a stunning rich colour that looks dark with polishing and delivers a wonderful glint in the sunshine with its dark metalic finish. Probably one of the lowest mileage cars of this type available for its age!!

This is one of the very rare S54 engined Z3M roadsters with full service history. Only 73 were ever produced in RHD with the S54 engine. For your information: The newer S54 engine is known to be almost bullet proof whereas the older S53 and S52 engines are prone to component failure (I know this from past experience with an older 1999 Z3M roadster Estoril Blue which I owned several years ago. Knowing the robustness of the s54 engine I immediately seeked a replacement model and have not been proved wrong since - it has to be said though that all Z3M roadsters are truly amazing cars!!).

Engine and Drive:
- This car is spec'd at 325 bhp (s54 model). With this particular model (as opposed to the older s52 model engine) the power delivery is faster, more responsive and the 0-60 specification is under 5 seconds. My current insurance quote (for a bonus accelerator 10 month policy) has been quoted at under £500 - for the power you get that's surely cheap insurance.
- 5 speed gearbox
- Anti-lock brake system ABS
- Dynamic stability / traction control with bypass option
- Z3M Sportwheels

Interior:
- Electric doorlock with remote and alarm
- Black leather sportseats with electric adjustment controls
- Black cloth electric roof
- BMW Leather Tourney Covers (original + another as a spare - worth over £150)
- Electric windows
- Electric mirrors
- 2 stage seat heating
- Roll hoops and removable wind deflector
- MP3 CD radio with connectivity provided for external devices e.g. iPods etc
- Air conditioning
- Headlight washers
- Twin airbags

Other Useful to Know Stuff:
The car is fitted with a Thatcham Category 1 imobiliser which helps to lower insurance premiums.
Includes all originally supplied tools (e.g. tyre sealant system for punctures - no spare tyre - to save weight and keep the car fast and light) and owners handbook etc...

Exceptional condition for the bodywork as the car has recently received a professional polish plus the car is garaged overnight every night and over the weekend.

Brand new Michelin Pilot Pro Sport II tyres fitted.

Hi Hylts,

It's me that has been compiling all this with the help of Alfie and a few others. Sorry you haven't had any feedback yet. When I started out doing this I foolishly thought that we could get all the cars in short time. Sadly this has not been the case albeit I am still on the hunt and still pick up the odd one every now and then.

To date I'm short of 16 cars, there's another 10 where I have details but can't match them to a VIN. We did get some info fro BMW that allowed us to match colours to VIN's but curiously this has been inaccurate.

The break down I have to date is;

Estoril Blue 21
Titanium Silver 15
Black Sapphire 13
Phoenix Yellow 11
Imola Red 4
Oxford Green II 3
Steel Grey 3
Laguna Seca Blue 2
Cosmos Black 1
Total 73

Hope this helps. If anyone does ses an S54, please note the Reg, colour, and if possible have a sneaky lookin the window for the last three digits of the VIN, then PM it to me. Thanks.

Still got it - waiting for it to crossover to "rare classic" and hit 6 figures in value once the recession ends :)

Yes I remember, got some chrome door handles now and z3 ski rack bits for sale.....

I'd be up for some croozes, been out the country a lot so it's been tucked away..... 33k miles on the clock only - could it be the lowest mileage one out there?

It didn't say 'S54' in the thread title, so I didn't bother reading it...

Bin them anyway.

Two reasons.

Firstly, you are running on dead rubber as it get hard over time and loses grip. This happened to my Contis.

Secondly, the Dunlops are not that good to begin with.

Just new to these cars, so, forgive me for my ignorance. :dunce:

Bought my Z3 a week ago and it has an 'M' steering wheel and an 'M' gear stick knob, alas, from what I've read here (no I didn't read the whole thread ), my VIN number ends with LK17263.

Looks like steering wheel and gear knob are a red herring

Oh well...........

the 3.2 litre engine is the tell tale sign of an ///M car and if your not sure if you have got one or not its 99.999999999999% certain you don't I'm afriad. Its even more unlikely you have an S54 engined ///M car and didn't realise it :rtm:

from the VIN yours is a 2002 2.2. It may be a sport model if it has a clear 3rd break light but not an ///M I'm afraid.

///M accessories are fitted to lots of BMW models (part of BMW marketing and does confuse people who are not used to BMW's)

The manual supplied with the car is for general BMW Saloon cars, it has nothing to do with the Z3. Found a Z3 pdf manual online, but, it's for the 2.5i and 3.0i Roadsters and the 3.0i Coupe. Haven't found a specific manual for my 2.2i yet. I knew it didn't have the 3.2 litre engine, just didn't know what the M model consisted of. :dunce:

Yes, mine was built in May 02 and first registered in September 02 and is the 2.2i model in Sapphire Black (only 2 owners from new). Oh, and yes it does have the 3rd clear brake light.

So then, educate me, tell me what differences the Sport model has to the normal model?

I'm on iPhone at moment but I'll post up a link to the original brochure and price list I have for your car showing the differences fully but the sport models had extras like sport suspension clear 3rd break light sports seats aluminium centre consol etc

Better to post questions in a new thread as this one is dedicated to a different model ;-)
