Our Z3 is a '99 2.8 auto.
Driving along yesterday at a normal A-road speed and the radio went off and a warning buzzer sounded about 10 times, then the radio came back on. Nothing else before or since, and no accompanying warning lights.
Any ideas what it might be trying to tell us? The oil is at the full mark and the car was only serviced about 2000 miles ago.
Warning buzzer when driving
Re: Warning buzzer when driving
The buzzer is likely to be the headlight warning buzzer which sounds when you turn off the ignition with the headlights still on. It sounds like at least part of the car has lost power momentarily. I start by checking the battery terminals are clean and tight and then look at some of the wiring behind the dash, looking for chafed wiring. There is a recent thread on here with someone who's instruments and radio were playing up and he traced it to behind the instrument cluster.

Thanks. Battery terminals are OK, so will try and get my head under the dash tomorrow.

Re: Warning buzzer when driving
Do you mean 'buzzer' or is it an electronically generated tone: 'beep'. If so it could be the tone that sounds off when the RDS signal is lost. My radio behaves in exactly this way when I stray into poor signal areas with TP on.
