Clutch pedal to the floor.

Hi everyone,

I went out to my car this morning, pushed the clutch in as I normally do before starting the car and there was no resistance or return on the pedal, it went straight to the floor and didn't come back until I gave it a little flick with my foot and then the little assister spring brought it back.

I've had all the cowlings off the steering column and everything looks OK under there, fluid looks to be where it was in the reservoir... so what's gone? There's no leaking fluid on the firewall so I'm guessing slave cylinder?

Sounds as though the return spring has gone. Does the clutch engage and disengage?

No, sorry - there's no engagement of the clutch at all. That car is moving no-where.

If you have no resistance it sounds like the pressure plate may have gone or as already said the spring in the centre of the clutch plate may have failed.

Well the clutch itself, the master cylinder and the clutch pedal itself were all replaced about 10k ago, pedal and MC by Munich Legends and the clutch itself by BMW...

They can fail prematurely.

If you put the car in gear and crank the starter does it try to move or not? If it tries to move it's unlikely to be the pressure plate, more likely hydraulic fault. If it doesn't try to move the clutch itself is faulty/broken.

Slave cylinder had gone, so thankfully it was nothing major.
